SATRAD Console Interface for MSAT G2

Network Innovations Announces the SATRAD Console Interface for MSAT G2 to Eliminate Voice Delay and Simplify Dispatch Operations

Calgary, AB, October 16, 2007 – Network Innovations has solved the issue of voice delay on MSAT G2 systems with the release of the SATRAD Console Interface System (CIS).  The CIS integrates existing dispatch console systems with the SATRAD MSAT G2 satellite dispatch radio service and eliminates the voice delay associated with a standard G2 dispatch unit.

The CIS enables dispatch operators to eliminate waiting for “go ahead” tones, because the CIS records the dispatcher’s voice while requesting a voice channel from the G2 satellite dispatch radio system. When the channel has been acquired, the dispatcher’s message is relayed across the satellite voice channel.
“The CIS provides uniformity of operation across both conventional UHF/VHF simplex radio and satellite dispatch radio networks”, said Heike Wierenga, Engineering Manager of Network Innovations. “It will improve operator efficiency and reduce the opportunity for clipped messages.”

In addition to eliminating the voice delay issue on MSAT G2, the CIS also simplifies the use of private mode, one-to-one communications from central dispatch operations to specific mobile or remote SATRAD MSAT G2 units.  “Now dispatch operators only have to enter a simple four digit code to initiate a private mode conversation with a specific G2 unit in the field”, said Michael Korsholm, Sales Manager of Network Innovations.  “This capability means that an organization only needs a single private talk group which will reduce their operational costs.”

The CIS Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) decoder capability enables console operators to make G2 “private mode” point to point calls from the console. The console operator can select the G2 interface then key the desired unit identifier code on a DTMF keypad on the console. The CIS will then detect the DTMF code and decode the desired unit identifier.  Then the CIS invokes the G2 to acquire a private mode connection to the desired device.  Once the channel is acquired, the dispatcher’s voice message is relayed across the voice channel.

The CIS is a rackmount appliance with multiple options for connectivity between the CIS and the SATRAD MSAT G2 dispatch unit.   The CIS is available now from Network Innovations and sells for $4,995.  For additional information on the SATRAD Console Interface System, contact Network Innovations.
