SCADA-Telemetry Data Communications

SCADA COMMUNICATIONS CHALLENGE

The goal of SCADA or telemetry is to be able to monitor and manage field equipment from a central location to improve operating efficiencies, enhance safety and provide your business with real-time information.  Achieving this goal requires a reliable communications infrastructure that connects field PLC/RTU’s back to central operations.  Many industries deploy field equipment in remote locales where terrestrial based communications do not exist or are cost prohibitive.  Ensuring reliable communications, regardless of location, is a key to the success of SCADA and telemetry operations.

NETWORK INNOVATIONS VALUE

Network Innovations provides a suite of mobile and stationary Satellite communications solutions for wireless SCADA/telemetry data communications that operate globally.  We help you determine the right solution for your requirements and provide the expertise to help you plan, integrate, test, deploy and operate a satellite communications solution for your SCADA operations.  Our solutions bring cost savings, timely operational results and improved functionality.

SatCom Advantage for SCADA & Telemetry

Satellite based communications for SCADA networks form a reliable alternative to traditional methods.  The benefits of our satellite based communications solutions include:

  • Portable systems with a short implementation cycle
  • Broadcast networks (multiple stations can receive a single message)
  • Very cost effective compared with land lines or radio towers
  • Highly reliable with world-wide coverage
  • Ease of integration with PLC/RTUs through our Universal Communications Adapter

Comprehensive Suite of Solutions

To accommodate the diverse requirements of our customers, we integrate products from our business partners that will provide you with the ability to access, send and receive data from remote areas around the globe.   Our partners include:

·   Inmarsat

·   Iridium
·   Globalstar
·   SkyTerra (MSAT)
·   Thrane & Thrane
·   Skywave

Universal Communications Adapter

Network Innovations’ Universal Communications Adapter (UCA) adds value to your SCADA operations.  The UCA interfaces with your PLC/RTU’s to provide programmable scheduling, multiple holding registers to store files for local polling, programmable thresholds for report by exception monitoring, and the ability to make remote programming changes to RTUs.  The UCA provides the added intelligence to enable the PLC/RTU to communicate with satellite or cellular modems including support for Modbus.

Building the Right Solution

Network Innovations has a team of resources who can work with you to define your business requirements and determine the best solution for your specific needs.  Our team of experts will help you to design, test, implement and support a satellite communications solution that will ensure consistent and reliable SCADA data communications.  Based upon your requirements, we will recommend the best solution for your needs.
